SailorGuides.com
America offers an almost endless number of waterways to explore, from raucous party ports to secluded anchorages rarely seen by human eyes and everything in between. Many of the most remote and beautiful locations in the country are accessible only by boat. While sailors with large cruising boats are fortunate to be able to see all the wonders available within a week's sail from their home port, those of us with trailerable boats are able to see them all. So why is it that almost every cruising guide you read assumes that you plan to sail in on a 40-foot yacht?
SailorGuides.com is my humble attempt to rectify the lack of useful vacation planning resources for the trailer boating community. With my sailboat in tow, I will travel to the most desirable vacation destinations and fill you in on all the details I can uncover that will help you get the most out of your own trip. From popular mainstream destinations to hidden gems known only to a few, I will sail as far and wide as my time and budget allows and share my experiences with anyone interested in unlocking the awesome potential of a boat on a trailer.
Whether you're new to boating or an old hand, I hope the information soon to be included in this site will be a useful jumping off point for your own boating adventures. Within the guides you will find detailed information on launch ramp conditions, marinas, anchorages, and shoreside amenities. Unlike big boat cruising books that assume their readers will be stuck at the marina without land transportation, I will also detail the inland attractions you can visit by car and campgrounds and motels where you can extend your vacation ashore. Wherever possible, I provide click-through links to local web sites that can provide up-to-date information and current prices for the various facilities and attractions.
I'll be posting a variety of sailing guides later this year, so be sure to check back!
Happy Boating!
